I am back from USAT Certification and am psyched at passing on what I learned!! You will start seeing LOTS of new things in our training sessions – all the latest in training for endurance athletes from the best in the business, including professional triathletes, Olympic medalists, Olympic coaches. To give you an idea where trends in training are going, we had 10 hours of instruction on nutrition for the endurance athlete alone – from the U.S. Olympic team nutritionist.
I have set up registration for the follow-on training programs. In addition to adding programs for Beginning runner and Intermediate Distance (10 Mile, Half Marathon), I have included an Annual Option. This will allow a single registration to cover both marathon programs and the winter program. This is a new approach so let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. The actual schedules will be coming soon but our target races will be ZOOMA Half Marathon, BEN MOORE Half/10k (1 Aug.), A-10, MCM/BALTIMORE/STEAMTOWN/PHILA/NEW YORK Marathons. The schedule will be tailorable for any Fall marathon.

Wednesday Track Session - There WILL be a track session this evening at 6 pm at AHS Track. This will be a lower intensity and volume session for those doing Shamrock, or Nations marathons, or ‘other’. we are scheduled to do 1 x 1200, 2 x 800 Yasso’s; 4 x 100’s. Remember; pace yourself. We will meet at Squisito’s for a final strategy session before the weekend’s races.
Saturday Run – This is RACE WEEKend for those doing HAT, Nations, or Shamrock. GOOD LUCK; Trust your Training and be sure to give us a wrap up. The distance for others will be 10 miles, depending on what/when your goal race is. FREDERICK marathon is coming up.
Heads Up - the Annapolis Striders Board waited until the "heat" died down from the last time they removed the port a Pot at Truman and have had it removed; confirming their attitude that if you are not part of their inner circle that runs where THEY want then you don't count. We working on other alternatives to get a port a pot back, but if you have any suggestions, let us know.
Sunday Trail Run –
9 am. AHS Trails – for one or two loops. This should NOT be a tempo run. You ran long on Saturday and do not want to overdo it Sunday, even if it is on the trails
. If you are up for some cool down laps, join us with the New Year Beginning Runners on the AHS Track at 11 am. I know they would love to hear encouragement from others who have “been there, done that” trying to get started running.
